This site presents "Infinitisations", the series by contemporary artist César Henao. His paintings are an immersion in the concept of the singularity. The work explores the links between the singularity of being, the gravitational singularity commonly known as a "black hole" in space and the technological singularity or advent of autonomous artificial intelligence

The series created by César Henao during the last three years reveals the primacy of new materials and an artistic process of conception and unprecedented realization.

The mineral resin, a mixture of natural stone derived from bauxite and acrylic resin that César Henao uses as a support for the image, gives the work a rigid surface with an immaculate white or an ultra-deep black that cannot be altered over time.

The geometric formulas in each image fill the space with an optical illusion. The inwardly curved hole in the center of each work, produced by the projection of paint, creates the illusion of a deep void.

The concave and the convex, the interior and the exterior, the straight and the deformed open up a new formal reality in which the intensity of colour and texture incite immersion. The spectator "enters" the work and shares its space and gravity. A tension between vertigo and balance. The effect is enigmatic and for no apparent reason - as if the rules of physics were being broken, but there is no way to prove it.

In a display of mastery of his artistic practice, César Henao generates this same sensation on surfaces as disparate as paper or canvas. There is a constant perception of having entered a space that is both artificial and alchemical.

César Henao lives and works in France.
